Dr. Jitendra Kumar Das,
Director, FORE School of Management, New Delhi
Dr. Jitendra K. Das has avid interest in areas of developmental marketing, social marketing, environmental marketing, rural marketing, and application of quantitative techniques for developing robust marketing programs especially in the domain of Customer Relationship Management.
He holds B.Tech. (Chemical Engineering) and M.Tech. (Management and Systems) degrees, both from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT Delhi), and a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto where he was a recipient of the most coveted Connaught Fellowship for three years and was nominated for the prestigious The Joan E. Foley Quality of Student Experience Award 1998 (Open to faculty, staff and students of the University of Toronto).
Dr Das has taught Customer Relationship Management, Advanced Marketing Research, Marketing Management, Internet Marketing, etc. courses at the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIM Lucknow). He has also taught various courses at SP Jain Management Center, Singapore, IIM Kozhikode and IIM Ahmedabad. He has conducted many Executive Training Programs at IIM Lucknow including many one to five day programs at client locations. Before joining IIM, Lucknow, Dr. Das has worked with leading corporate organizations including Shriram Chemicals, Kota and WIPRO Information Technology Ltd. at Bangalore and New Delhi. As a business executive he gained valuable experience of the competitive marketplace, acquired skills to innovate and a sharp edge to perform.
He has also been with the Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal (IIFM) where he had been teaching Marketing Management, Marketing Research, and Rural and Environmental Marketing courses in their MBA-equivalent program and conducted many National Seminars and Management Development Programs.
Dr Das was empanelled on the ‘Distinguished Advisory Board’ of the 2007 INFORMS Marketing Science Conference held at the Singapore Management University, Lee Kong Chian School of Business, 28-30 June 2007. He has widely presented papers to many national and international conferences/seminars. His contribution to the academia includes articles on systems analysis in natural resources and marketing that have appeared in national and international publications, such as, i) Proceedings of the International Symposium on Systems Analysis & Management Decisions-Monterey, University of California, Berkeley, ii) OR37 of UK Annual Conference, iii) Forest Policy and Economics (Elsevier Journal), iv) Ecology Society Economy: Life Sciences Dimension, Filander Verlag Press, Germany, v) Financial Express, vi) University, News, vii) Vikalpa – The Journal of Decision Makers (IIM Ahmedabad), viii) Business Research, ix) Marketing study reports to GWB, Germany, IDRC of Canada, and the World Bank, ix). Proceedings of National Seminars, etc.
Besides, he has demonstrated administrative acumen by his effective handling of various academic-administrative positions in the past, such as, at IIM Lucknow he held positions of Chairman--Marketing Group, Chairman--Management Development Program, founder Dean (Noida Campus), etc. As a member of the School of Graduate Studies Council and Fee Restructuring Committee of the University of Toronto, he helped bring changes in the system to better serve needs of the students. He also spearheaded a team and became a signatory along with the President of the University of Toronto and two other members, to a historic document empowering students of the University of Toronto in the decision process of the University. He was also nominated as a member of the Selection Committee to appoint Dean, School of Graduate Studies—an apex academic body—of the University of Toronto.
He has also served as a consultant to the World Bank; GTZ (German Agency for Technical Cooperation through GWB, Germany); IDRC (International Development Research Centre) of Canada; Department of North Eastern Region, Government of India; Globe Cast India (a division of France Telecom); Coal India Ltd.; Indian Rayon Industries Ltd (Aditya Birla Group); ESCOTEL Mobile Communications Ltd., New Delhi; Khadi Village Industries Commission; Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.; etc. on various marketing issues.
From the Director’s Desk ………
With a turnaround in the global economy, India is back in business with projected annual GDP growth rate of over 7% in 2009-2010 and the world seeing India as a favorite destination for investments. This has a substantive meaning for us at the FORE School of Management (FORE), for we nurture and produce management talent that will actively participate in the business ensuing out of this growth in India and abroad.
I wish to thank you for showing interest in FORE School of Management. We have been providing quality education in management for the past 29 years and over 3000 students have graduated from FORE since its inception in 1981. Currently with two-year full time programs in Management (PGDM) and International Business (PGDM-IB), and a three-year part time program in Management (part-time PGDM) having a total planned student strength of about 750, we are well placed to leave an impact in the society. We foster sharpening of skills and enhancement of knowledge base in our students through various extra-curricular, co-curricular and curricular activities through faculty who not only keep themselves at par with the current developments but also contribute to the expansion of the body of knowledge in their field of expertise. To facilitate this we have Centers of Excellence to inculcate within and to enhance domain specific Research and Training among members of faculty and Entrepreneurship among students. With very congenial and professional environment our faculty makes substantial contribution to the academia through quality teaching, publications, seminars, conferences, etc. The faculty contribution has received recognition by way of various collaborations we have with our partner institutions and universities in India and abroad, and the excellent goodwill we enjoy with the corporate world who generously contribute to our various academic processes. The corporate interactions including corporate supported projects undertaken by our students under faculty supervision is considered unique, in the sense, that it provides a close hands-on-experience to our students as part of our curriculum. Thus, as a student you certainly are expected to have an enriching and life turning experience that should propel you to take advantage of the new opportunities in life.
