Background & Experience

Having more than 35 years of teaching & research experience; taught in three universities and worked in two research organizations i.e. ICRIER & RIS; has been the Director in one of the Management Institutes for two years. Published one book, contributed chapters in two edited books and written over 35 articles in refereed national & international journals and newspapers. Recipient of ICSSR fellowship for doctoral research. Presented papers in national & international conferences in India & abroad.

Has published two books and 20 research publications in the referred journals of national and international repute. Attended and organised various national and international conferences on various contemporary economic issues and has coordinated and conducted MDPs on trade related issues and very recently organised Faculty Development Programme (FDP) sponsored by AICTE, Min. of HRD, Govt. of India for young faculty members working in AICTE affiliated management business schools in India to acquaint them with the latest pedagogical tools and techniques available and also make them aware of the recent developments that are taking place in management education and research.

 

Areas of Interest & Teaching

International Trade & Business in general and Regional Trading Blocks (RTBs) in particular, Development Economics, Economic Environment of Business and Legal Aspects of Business.

  • South Asian Debt: A Critical Analysis? a study done under the aegis of ICRIER-EC Cooperation Council which was later published by UN, Economic Bulletin for Asia and the Pacific, (New York) in 1991).
  • A study undertaken under Indian Council of World Affairs, Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India, during Pakistan president General Mussharaf?s visit to India in July, 2001 on ?India-Pakistan Trade Relations: Viable Options despite Hurdles? which was later published in India Quarterly journal of April-June, 2001 issue.

  • Organised National Seminar on ?The New Economy: Strategic Implications for Business Organizations? in February 2003 and prepared a background paper for the seminar.
  • Annual Conference of the Rajasthan Economic Society held at Bikaner between January27-29, 2002 and presented a paper on ?WTO and Economic Integration: An Application of Gravity Model?.
  • Organised Workshop on ?IPR& New Patent Regime: Implications for India? at New Delhi in September 2002.
  • Centre for Latin American & Caribbean Studies in India, Delhi organized a seminar on ?India, Latin America: Millennium Interface? at India International Centre on January19, 2000 and presented a paper on ?India-Latin America: Strategy for Economic Relations?.
  • Three day International Seminar on "Nationalism and Nationality Movements in South Asia" held on March 11-13, 1999 organised by South Asia Studies Centre, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, participated and presented a paper on the theme titled "Implications of Globalisation for the Nation-State and Nationalism in South Asia".
  • International Conference on ?Globalisation and Regional Economic Integration held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi in November 17-18, 1994. Presented a paper on, ?Regional Economic Integration in Latin America".
  • International Conference held at Goa University in collaboration with Auburn University, Alabama, USA in December 1994 on ?US, Latin America and South Asia: Comparative Perspectives?. Presented a paper on ?MERCOSUR: A viable Option for Regional Co-operation?.
  • Annual Conference of The Indian Econometric Society held between March 11 and 13, 1999 under the aegis of Department of Economics, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur and presented a paper on "Trade Flows in South Asia--An Application of the Gravity Model".
  • Restructuring Latin American Economies: Lessons for India?, Two day Seminar held at Goa University on February 3-4, 1993 and presented a Paper on ?Comparative Analysis between Mexican and Indian Economies?.
