Library Rules

Membership

The membership of the library is opened to all the regular students of the institute.

Students are required to pay a Library Security Deposit of Rs. 3000/- at the time of admission.

2. Admission to the Library

The Library timings are as under:
 

Mondays to Fridays  

-  

9 am to 9.00 pm

Saturdays

-

9 am to 5.00 pm

Sundays

-

9 am. to 5.00 pm
     

The Library remains closed on all announced holidays of the institute. The members can avail the facility half and hour after the opening and half an hour before closing of the library.

Membership/Identity card is required to be shown at the entrance gate whenever asked.

Personal belongings are not allowed to be taken inside the library. Such belongings are to be kept at the property counter and a token be obtained in lieu of belongings. Library does not accept any responsibility for loss or damage to personal property left at the counter.

3. Borrowing privileges

  • The books will be issued to the students on all working days.
  • Two books will be issued to the students only against membership cards for period of seven days.
  • The books will be issued to the authorized members only.
  • Journals/magazines/reference books/project reports/text books from textbook section will not be issued.

4. Loss of Membership Cards

  • The loss of membership cards may immediately be reported to the Librarian in writing.
  • Duplicate cards will be issued on request in writing on payment of Rs. 100/-.
  • The member concerned shall continue to be responsible for any loss due to the misuse of the lost card even after having been issued duplicate.

5. Conditions of Loan

  • The books can be issued to the students for 7 days at a time.
  • Books may be re-issued provide, no other member requires the same book.
  • An overdue charge of Rs. 5/- per book, per day, will be charged if the books are not returned to the library when due.
  • The Librarian can recall books on loan at any time.
  • The books issued shall be returned on or before date of return. No grounds for late return of books is accepted.

6. Loss of Books

In case of loss or damage of book issued to student, the student will pay the original printed price or the replacement cost of the book whichever is higher.

If the book lost or damaged is one of the volumes of a set, the member shall have to pay the cost of the whole set.

7. General

Members should keep the Librarian informed of any change in address during the period of membership.

The members shall satisfy themselves about the physical condition of books before borrowing. The defects, if any be brought to the notice of library staff and stamp be suffixed. No plea that the book was already damaged will be entertained at the time of return of the book.

Eating, drinking, smoking and using cell phone are strictly prohibited in the Library.

No one shall enter the counter or use the library telephone.

Photocopying of any material of the library is prohibited. In case a copy is required for non-restricted material, the member will fill in a requisition available at the issue counter and get the payment acknowledged at the photocopy center. Library them will arrange the action.

Audio-Video Cassettes shall not be issued to students. The institute can make arrangement for their screening in the library on request.

Members are requested not to write and mark or otherwise disfigure books and journals. In case any damage is caused to reading material, the person concerned will be required to pay its cost.

In case it is found that a user has torn off pages and substantially damaged the book the act shall be viewed as serious breach of discipline and is liable for action under rule 7.1 under academic discipline.

MAINTAINING SILENCE IS INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY and those found breaking the rule are liable to serious academic indiscipline as per rule 7.1 under academic discipline.

Cell phone cannot be used in the library. Ringing of cell phone or conversation on cell phone shall attract disciplinary action coupled with fine.

The users have been provided the computer facility in library only for browsing library materials using LIBSYS. Any use other than this is prohibited and amounts to academic indiscipline under rule 7.1
