CRIFT at FORE School of Management, New Delhi kickstarted its seminar series - ASTITVA 3.0 on 9th November 2021 by inviting an acclaimed investor, speaker, and businessman Mr. Joseph Olassa who is the Co-Founder and CEO of Nuivio Ventures Inc. He shared his valuable insights with the students on the Topic: Frugal Innovation and Venture Building. The process started with a brief introduction of Mr. Olassa after which he took over the stage. He vividly described his experience while working with Mr. Jaideep Prabhu and Mr. Navi Radjou in the domain of frugality. He defined frugality as the skill of overcoming hard limits when presenting a PowerPoint presentation. He further stated that frugality is not just making something new but improvising the existing product as well. Mr. Joseph enlightened the students about how Grassroot innovations are taking place and their widespread impact on the community. He touched upon the art of overcoming constraints in transforming businesses. With the same, he also presented interesting analogies about how Nuivio Ventures is revolutionizing industries such as digital, retail, and aviation by using the Frugal approach. Mr. Joseph also engaged with the students by answering their questions and doubts during the interactive session. He spoke about how startups may engage in sustainability and the need of having a frugal mindset in every firm. The seminar inspired students to introduce frugality into their day-to-day lives and also provided them with innovative ideas, establishing a baseline for the students' future entrepreneurial endeavors.
CRIFT organized their annual flagship case study competition - “Rural to Frugal” in collaboration with KINISI and Frugal Company. KINISI is a sustainable mobility unit that provides electric mobility to all Auroville residents, volunteers, and visitors. The goal is for people to be able to travel around Auroville in comfort, silence, and without emitting any emissions. The case study given focused upon the problems faced by people living in rural areas (Auroville) and the participants had to apply their frugality acumen to provide a solution. The first two rounds included an online quiz and submission of the solution to the real-life case problem provided by Frugal Company and KINISI. The third and final round was the presentation round for the solution submitted in the 2nd round. We were also honored to host our esteemed panel of judges comprising of Mr. Abhinav Agarwal (Founder of Frugal Company), Mr. Debabrata Sahoo (Managing Director of Kinisi), and Prof. Abhoy Ojha (Professor – IIM Bangalore) who graced the occasion with their valuable presence and guidance and provided a great learning experience to all. Numerous teams from Top B-Schools and Universities participated in the competitions out of which the top 3 teams emerged victoriously. The top 2 teams along with the prize money, were also sent goodies sponsored by KINISI.
CRIFT at FORE School of Management, New Delhi will be holding the 4th session of its Seminar Series - ASTITVA 4.0 on 29th November 2021 by inviting Mr. Abhinav Agarwal who is the Co-Founder and CEO of The Frugal Company. He has also been a lecturer at HEC in Paris, where he regularly offered talks and workshops on frugal innovation. Currently, he is a Corporate Trainer for businesses wanting to achieve growth through "sustainable innovation". Mr. Abhinav will be sharing his valuable insights with the students on the Topic: Role of frugal innovation for building exponential organizations. The webinar is expected to see a participation of approximately 120 students.
CRIFT at FORE School of Management, New Delhi is currently planning on organizing a 2-Day Guesstimate Workshop for the students to inculcate Guesstimate Solving skills. This will help them in cracking Placement Rounds as well as competing in D2C competitions. It will be conducted by Prof. (Dr.) Anil Singh.
CRIFT organized the event “FRUGANOMICS” under “Genesis' 22”. Genesis is the Annual Management and Cultural Festival organized by the Team Nexus, the Cultural and Event Management committee of FORE. FRUGANOMICS is the flagship event of CRIFT which is an engrossing simulation-based event that tests the strategy-making skills of the participants for dealing with competitive situations along with their ability to simulate working in a dynamic environment and test their understanding and knowledge of frugality. This year, the competition will be based on the exciting theme "Money Heist". The 1st Round was a quiz consisting of management and general knowledge questions. The participants needed to use the clues provided to form an alphanumeric code to ensure their victory. The top teams will be shortlisted from this round conducted on 30th November 2021. The 2nd round will be held on 15th January 2022 (tentatively) which will be based on innovative strategy simulation. The participants will be given real-life strategic conditions and they have to apply their frugality acumen to make the best use of the resources provided and complete the time-bound tasks given.
