Prof. Faisal Ahmed

Background & Experience

Dr. Ahmed is an academic, researcher and consultant on international trade, geopolitics and south-south cooperation. He had been associate director at CUTS International, a global think tank on international trade and WTO issues. He is primarily an academic and has taught at business schools in India and abroad. He has been consultant to the Economic Development and Globalization Division of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UNESCWA), besides working on projects by other think tanks and government. He was also a delegate at UNCTAD XIII held in April 2012 in Doha. Dr. Ahmed is frequently invited as speaker and expert panellist by leading think tanks, chamber of commerce, universities and other government and professional bodies. He has also been quoted in newspapers like Business Standard and Gulf News (a UAE daily).


Areas of Interest

His teaching areas are international business environment, international trade and WTO studies, among other. His research interests include economic integration (FTA/CECA), WTO issues, and trade & geopolitics; while his consulting areas are trade & development, south-south cooperation, public diplomacy, and economic engagements with WANA and CIS.


Papers and Publications

He has published twenty-one papers/articles, two monographs, and presented sixteen papers in conferences in India and abroad. Besides that, his articles have also appeared in newspapers like Financial Express, Business Standard and The Economic Times on edit/op-ed pages.
