India's healthcare sector is undergoing a significant transformation driven by rapid technological advancements, increasing healthcare investments, changing disease patterns, expanding health insurance coverage, and growing patient expectations. Over the years, the industry has evolved from a predominantly service-oriented system to a complex ecosystem involving hospitals, diagnostic centres, digital health platforms, pharmaceutical companies, insurance providers, and public health agencies. The recent emergence of telemedicine, artificial intelligence, healthcare analytics, electronic health records, and value-based care models is reshaping the way healthcare services are delivered and managed.
India, simultaneously, faces major healthcare challenges, including rising chronic diseases, an aging population, increasing demand for quality healthcare services, workforce shortages, regulatory compliance requirements, and the need for operational efficiency. Hospitals today are not only centres of clinical excellence but also sophisticated organizations requiring expertise in finance, human resources, quality management, supply chain operations, healthcare technology, patient experience, and strategic planning.
These developments have created a growing demand for professionally trained healthcare managers who can bridge the gap between clinical services and organizational management. The Healthcare and Hospital Management Program aims to develop proficient healthcare management professionals equipped with managerial, analytical, technological, and leadership capabilities required to strengthen healthcare organizations and health systems. The program seeks to integrate healthcare knowledge with modern management practices to address emerging challenges in healthcare delivery, hospital administration, public health systems, healthcare technology, and patient-centered care. The Program incorporates real-world case studies, AI-driven insights, and hands-on projects to prepare for the evolving global healthcare landscape.
The instructional methodology comprises an optimum mix of lectures, classroom discussions, Case Method teaching, group discussions, live industry projects, mentoring sessions with senior industry practitioners, management games, the Capstone project conducted within the participant's own organisation, and international exposure. The programme design integrates AI, data analytics, and digital transformation as core competencies — not standalone electives. Leading healthcare professionals and hospital administrators and leaders are involved not only in shaping the curriculum, but in mentoring participants and teaching in the classroom as guest faculty.
The curriculum of the PGDM (Healthcare and Hospital Management) at FORE School of Management is the outcome of benchmarking against leading global programmes, and continuous review by faculty in concert with healthcare practitioners and business leaders. The content and design of courses are aimed at preparing future senior leaders to develop:
The institute uses the concept of credits to indicate the number of in-class contact hours in a course. One credit equals 10 in-class contact hours. A participant is required to complete 103 credits in total for the award of the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Healthcare and Hospital Management).
The programme spans 2 years across 4 Semesters. The term-wise course credit distribution is as under:
| Year and Term Wise Course Credit Distribution | |
|---|---|
| Term 1 | Core Courses in partnership with collaborating foreign university |
| Term 2 | Core + Elective Courses |
| Internship | With partnering hospitals |
| Term 3 | Elective Courses + Capstone |
| Term 4 | Elective Courses + Project |
| International Immersion Programme (IIP) (optional) | In partnership with collaborating foreign university |
* The term-wise credit requirement may vary for participants opting for IIP Plus, which signifies an extended IIP with additional credits, subject to payment of an additional fee.
The programme is designed around the schedules of participants:
The IIP is an optional component of the PGDM (Healthcare and Hospital Management) curriculum, structured as a 5-day programme at a partner international B-school. The immersion involves in-class sessions, global business interactions, and corporate exposure, providing participants with cross-border leadership capabilities and access to an international peer network. Credits earned in the IIP accrue towards the programme total.
Participants opting for the extended IIP Plus option, carrying additional credits, will be required to pay an additional fee; credit transfer is supported.
