PGDM (HHM)

Introduction

India's healthcare sector is undergoing a significant transformation driven by rapid technological advancements, increasing healthcare investments, changing disease patterns, expanding health insurance coverage, and growing patient expectations. Over the years, the industry has evolved from a predominantly service-oriented system to a complex ecosystem involving hospitals, diagnostic centres, digital health platforms, pharmaceutical companies, insurance providers, and public health agencies. The recent emergence of telemedicine, artificial intelligence, healthcare analytics, electronic health records, and value-based care models is reshaping the way healthcare services are delivered and managed.

India, simultaneously, faces major healthcare challenges, including rising chronic diseases, an aging population, increasing demand for quality healthcare services, workforce shortages, regulatory compliance requirements, and the need for operational efficiency. Hospitals today are not only centres of clinical excellence but also sophisticated organizations requiring expertise in finance, human resources, quality management, supply chain operations, healthcare technology, patient experience, and strategic planning.

These developments have created a growing demand for professionally trained healthcare managers who can bridge the gap between clinical services and organizational management. The Healthcare and Hospital Management Program aims to develop proficient healthcare management professionals equipped with managerial, analytical, technological, and leadership capabilities required to strengthen healthcare organizations and health systems. The program seeks to integrate healthcare knowledge with modern management practices to address emerging challenges in healthcare delivery, hospital administration, public health systems, healthcare technology, and patient-centered care. The Program incorporates real-world case studies, AI-driven insights, and hands-on projects to prepare for the evolving global healthcare landscape.

Programme Objectives (POs)

  • 2Integrate healthcare knowledge with modern management practices to address emerging challenges in healthcare delivery, hospital administration, public health systems, healthcare technology, and patient-centered care.
  • 3Incorporate real-world case studies, AI-driven insights, and hands-on projects to prepare for the evolving global healthcare landscape.

Pedagogy

The instructional methodology comprises an optimum mix of lectures, classroom discussions, Case Method teaching, group discussions, live industry projects, mentoring sessions with senior industry practitioners, management games, the Capstone project conducted within the participant's own organisation, and international exposure. The programme design integrates AI, data analytics, and digital transformation as core competencies — not standalone electives. Leading healthcare professionals and hospital administrators and leaders are involved not only in shaping the curriculum, but in mentoring participants and teaching in the classroom as guest faculty.
