FORE School Of Management organizes a dynamic FDP in the form of an educational tour to Vietnam.

21st September 2015

A faculty team from FORE School of Management, New Delhi is all set to head to Vietnam for a Faculty Development Program that has several important takeaways for them, including an opportunity to collaborate with contemporaries on research and studies. Faculty members of the institute, who are experts in diverse fields, have previously taken such country specific study tours to China, Italy, The UAE, Thailand, Malaysia, and Uzbekistan. Now they will have a platform to share developments in business and industry with academicians and industry experts from Vietnam.

The Faculty Tour will be flagged off from the institute campus on the 23rd of September. Mr. Tran Quan Tuyen, Minister and Deputy Mission of Vietnam Embassy in India and Ms. Bach Thanh Binh, of Political and Cultural Section, Vietnam Embassy in India will be the Chief Guests for the ceremony. As a part of the study tour, the team will visit Ho Chi Minh City between 26th and 29th September 2015. Besides faculty members, the Director and the President, a few family members will accompany the team on the tour.

Dr. Mohit Anand, Associate Prof., International Business and Prof.-in-charge, Center for Emerging Markets, states the importance of the programme and further explains, “Visiting different countries and interacting with professors from various international universities gives us an insight into different countries' cultures, macro and micro economics and the challenges they face.” To facilitate the interactions the institute has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh City and University of Economics and Law, Ho Chi Minh City to promote academic collaboration with partner institutions.

The faculty tour will thus involve academic sessions on Vietnamese economy by renowned faculty members from these Universities. Dr. Anand believes that it will be an eye opening experience for faculty members who strive to mould future global managers. “When you talk of an MBA course, global mindset is important. As global citizens, we need to have a holistic approach to understand market structures across the world. Markets and its different sectors are constantly evolving, and such development programs further give birth to management ideas that we can imbibe and pass on in our teaching,” he said enthusiastically.

The formal inauguration of academic activities in Vietnam will take place on the 27th of September, 2015 at the Conference Hall of Hotel Renaissance River Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City. The event will present an opportunity for the members of the study tour to interact with top officials of the Universities in Vietnam. Ms. Smita Pant, The Consular General of India in Vietnam will be the Chief Guest of the event that will bring together President, Vice President, Rector, Dean and other senior officials of both the universities. “Your network is your net worth,” is the mantra followed by Dr. Anand and this event will definitely live up to it.

As the Professor in charge of emerging markets, he understands the importance of such study tours in giving participants a sense of similarities and differences between the two countries. “Cross pollination of ideas, practices, and the pedagogy, is mutually beneficial.

It particularly makes sense for global MBA programs, like ours is,” he admits. What seems to be a highly promising study tour will be followed by publication of a well researched and edited book on business and economy of Vietnam. It will contain research articles from faculty members as they document their learning from the tour for the benefit of others.
