It’s that time of the year when B School fests are in the spotlight. Genesis - FORE School of Management's annual fest has become a marquee event for students from top colleges in the country. Themed “Genius meets Madness – Genesis” this year, the event brought together a whopping 2500 students who made it an extravaganza to remember.

 

Genesis has grown in popularity and stature over the years. It was evident with massive participation from 65 B Schools including IIM Shilong, IIM Indore, IIM Trichy, FMS and TISS. Over two days students from these management institutes showcased their talents and fought for top honors for their respective colleges. But at the same time they indulged in the revelries, which led to a fun filled atmosphere on the college campus.

 

Mr. R.C Sharma, President, Fore School of Management welcomed all participants during the traditional lighting of the lamp. He talked about the growth of Genesis, involvement of IIMs and what it has come to mean to management students from all over the country. Mr. B. B. L. Madhukar, V. P. and Treasurer, lauded the organizing committee for its efforts. “Age doesn’t decide destiny, mind does. We must not copy what’s happening in the West,” he said to inspire students.

 

Colonel (Dr.) S.P Wahi, Member, Executive Board, then urged students to reach a level of excellence and work for social welfare for the country. Dr. J.K Das, Director of the institute highlighted the importance of hosting such events. “It induces leadership among students, deepens student-teacher connection and works towards their holistic development,” he said. Dr. Sumeet Kaur, Chairperson - Student Affairs offered the Vote of Thanks to all stakeholders of the event.

 

The events at the fest were a heady mix of management related tasks and activities that displayed students’ talents while making them aware of social issues too. Jagrukta – Street Play Event had plays on socially relevant topics like rape, social discrimination and female infanticide. Singer, composer Mr. Gajendra Verma was the star attraction for the Celebrity Night that had the participants on their feet.

 

The Wolf of Comic Street – Standup Comedy competition had audiences in splits while Prerna – Corporate CSR Case Study Competition made participants ponder on more pressing issues. Concoct - B. Plan Contest invoked the entrepreneur in all participants as they presented business ideas judged by an expert jury. The Argumentative Indian, Ba-Czar, Corporate Buddha, BackFlush 5.0, Kurukshetra lived up to the tag of perennial favorites amongst participants.

 

Genesis 2016 also launched new events like Trader’s Cockpit that tested students’ knowledge of economy and let them evaluate a country as investment destination. The Amazing Race, Mujhme Hai RJ, Tasveer 16, Twisting Minutes were the cultural events that added a big dose of fun to the proceedings. Videosis 16, an inter-college movie making competition threw up a few surprises as participants went behind the camera and showcased their directorial skills.

 

Pratibimb – Face Painting Competition encouraged the budding artists and Step Up – Dance Competition upped the fun element with energetic performances from teams. Genesis 2016 ended on a high with the EDM night where the DJ had the audiences swaying to his beats non-stop. It was a fitting finale for the two day event that had brought talents from across the country together as they competed, shared and formed bonds that are the true spirit of college fests.
