February at FORE features eight more MDPs

February at FORE School of Management is packed with management development programmes, with topics ranging from disciplinary proceedings and domestic enquiry, to effective negotiation skills.

The month kicked off from February 4th– 6thwith ‘Disciplinary Proceeding and Domestic Enquiry’ under the direction of Prof. Neeraj Kumar, an area of management that can prove difficult due the myriad decisions made by the courts. It was aimed at giving participants a thorough understanding of the principles and procedures relating to domestic enquiry and how to apply them in the workplace.

This will be followed on February 7th and 8th by ‘Effective Services Management: People, Operations and Strategy’, directed by Dr. Anupam Narula and Prof. Mohita G. Sharma. Aimed primarily at the service industry, a key sector of the Indian economy, this MDP focused on developing an understanding of service concepts, skills in applying service principles and a range of other areas, including consumer behaviour in services, service operations and strategy.

The MDP on ‘Enterprise Risk Management for Creating a Risk Intelligent Organisation’ is slated for February 11th and 12thunder the direction of Prof. Vinay Dutta.

Focused on providing insight into the fundamentals of risk management, the MDP is aimed at middle and senior level executives and will examine the present state of risk management, the relationship between various risks businesses assume, developing risk infrastructure and ways of managing business risks.

February 13th– 15thwill see a session on ‘Enhancing Managerial Effectiveness’ headed by Prof. Neeraj Kumar. A three-day “high energy” programme, it is aimed at helping participants learn to manage themselves, teams and tasks via case studies, simulation exercises, worksheets, checklists and experience sharing. All this will be in addition to lectures.

‘Total Quality Management’ is on the cards for February 18th and 19th, under the direction of Prof. Mohita G. Sharma and Dr. Neeta Gupta. Total Quality Management (TQM) is an approach to preparing and implementing continuous improvement for an organisation by satisfying customers, identifying problems, building commitment and promoting decision-making among workers. It is aimed at executives and managers charged with achieving superior, long-term quality.

Sessions on ‘Communicating with Impact’ are scheduled from February 20th to the 22nd. Directed by Dr. Reeta Raina, this MDP will use theatre, practical exercises and case studies to teach effective written communication, listening skills, public speaking and non-verbal communication skills such as appearance, posture, gestures and facial expressions.

February 25th and 26thwill see Dr. V.M. Mathur conduct a programme on Emerging Trends in IT. With India being a hub of outsourcing for a wide range of IT and IT-related services, this programme is aimed at providing an in-depth look at emerging IT tools. This includes areas such as strategic management, how to reduce the cost of software development projects, IT investment and return, and many others.

Wrapping up the month, February 25th– 27thwill be an MDP titled ‘Effective Negotiation Skills’, directed by Prof. Neeraj Kumar and Dr. Prachi Bhatt. Utilising role playing, case studies and industry interaction to help participants develop their negotiation skills, this session is aimed at all those who have to conduct negotiations for their organisations.

With such a range of MDPs to cover, February certainly seems to be a packed month and the FORE School of Management the place to be.
