Programme Introduction:

Based on recommendations of the second National Commission on Labour to consolidate numerous central and state acts into 4 or 5 labour codes, the Government gave a push for the enactment of 4 labour codes subsuming around 29 central laws under them. This is an introductory program exploring the salient features of these codes.

Programme Objective:

To provide an understanding of the need and context of labour law codification and to discuss the broad scheme and key features of various labour codes and comparing/contrasting these features with those in the acts these codes purport to subsume.

Programme Content:

Salient features of:

  1. The Labour Code on Wages, 2019
  2. Labour Code on Industrial Relations 2020
  3. Labour Code on Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions 2020
  4. Labour Code on Social Security 2020.

With special reference to changes from provisions of current/previous laws.

Programme Methodology:

This training will be delivered in an online mode. The training will primarily make use of lectures, case studies and experience sharing. It will also include group discussions and thus be participative in nature.

Prof. Neeraj Kumar is currently a faculty and Area Head, OB & HR at FORE School of Management. He has a total of 40+ years’ experience in industry, consulting and teaching. He worked in the HRM function of Steel Authority of India Ltd for 23 years and has been a member of faculty at FORE since 2008. Experience in industry includes all major functions of HR like Employee Relations Management, Performance Management, L & D and Organization Development. Was instrumental in design and implementation of many systemic changes in SAIL. As a part of international consultancy assignment, was a part of a core team that did a diagnostic study in the ailing Egyptian Iron & Steel Industry. He was also a part of a consulting team that recommended changes at Vishweswaraiyya Steel Company Limited (Bhadravati, Karnataka) and Iron and Steel Works (Kulti, WB). An experienced trainer, he has designed and delivered customized MDPs in a large number of public and private sector organizations including NTPC, BALCO, Airtel, Maruti Udyog, METSO Minerals, Motherson Sumi, Siemens, Punj Lloyd, Capgemini and many others. He has been teaching subjects like Human Relations Management, Industrial Relations, Labour Laws and Compliances at Post Graduate leval and has co-authored a text book on Employee Relations Management.

Mr. Michael Dias is a Lawyer and Secretary, The Employer’s Association – Delhi. He is an Executive Member of the Governing Body of the All India Organization of Employers and has represented Indian Employers on National Labour Tripartite Forums, as also on Committees constituted by the ILO in India and overseas. He is a nominated member of apex Chambers of Commerce & Industry and is also the Employer Representative on various Statutory Boards constituted by the Government of India such as the Central Board of Trustees of the Employee’s Provident Fund Organisation. He has also been a member of the Employees State Insurance Corporation for the last several years. He was invited by the International Labour Organization to Geneva to represent Indian Employers at the ‘Meeting of Experts to Adopt Guidelines on Decent Work in Public Emergency Services’, whereat he made notable contributions. He is a Trainer for large Corporates including Trans – National Companies and NGOs. He has been a significant part of the Working Group constituted by the Prime Minister’s Office regarding labour matters. He has briefed the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Labour on various issues from time to time. He has been invited by the National Judicial Academy at Bhopal on various occasions as a Faculty to interact with senior Judges and Judicial Officers on various aspects of Labour and Employment Laws. He has been a guest faculty at premier Management Schools including IMT Ghaziabad, IIT Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, FORE School of ManagementIMI Delhi, SOIL Gurgaon and the like.
