Programme Introduction:
The business world is increasingly becoming digital and data driven. The data driven improved decision making can bring competitive strength by improving operational excellence, productivity, efficiency, customer engagement and innovation. The next generation managers must have the skills to handle the vast amount of data and deriving the strategic value from it. This course introduces this new class of managers to this increasing word of data in a very systematic manner using world’s favourite spreadsheet tool Excel and computing language Python. This course exposes participants use of data in business, to computing environment, handling various data types. data cleaning exploration and data base. The course is completely practical in nature and each concept will be illustrated by solving business problems. The relative emphasis of Python or Excel is based on the need of audience.
Programme Objective:
The goal of this course is learning how to handle data as a data analyst in a systematic manner using Excel and Python to solve variety of business problems. By the end of course the participants will be able to collect, harvest data from variety of sources, fuse them, Clean the data, analyze it, make insightful charts and plots, make recommendations and generate reports.

Introduction to Data Analytics and Python
Computing Environment and Element of Excel and Python
Basic data type, operations, commands, programming statements
Working with Data in Python – Numpy and Panda
Importing and Cleaning the Data
Exploring Data in a DataFrame
Visualization of Data – Linear Plot ,Histogram, Barplot, Pie Chart, Scatter Plot etc.
Programme Methodology:
The course is a practical introduction to data type, manipulation and exploration in a business environment. The course first explores the computing environment of using Excel and Python. The data are entered, stored, processed using variety of functions and plots are made using Excel. The course uses extensive hands-on using the programming language Python to explore data and will be delivered through lecture, projects & presentation, and assignments. It will introduce participants to use open-source library data libraries Pandas, Numpy and Scipy libraries to work with a sample dataset. Actual data in variety of forms and sources will be used.

Prof. Lalit Kumar Jiwani, PhD(Digital Signal Processing) IIT Delhi, M.Tech. (Integrated Electronics and Circuits) IIT Delhi and MS (Physics) IIT Kanpur is Professor in the area of Information Technology at the FORE School of Management, New Delhi. He has worked both in prominent academia and industry. He has earned PhD, IIT Delhi (Signal Processing) and M.Tech. (IC) from Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Delhi. He has teaching and research interest in the area of Information Technology and Systems, Digital Commerce, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, NLP, Statistics, Analytics, Visualization, Big Data Analytics and Computational Intelligence. His primary thrust is in the creation and application of Information Technology for Business and Management. He has conducted various MDP’s for executives on the above themes.
He has earlier worked with technology majors Motorola and Moschip Semiconductors. He was an expert panelist at “Higher Education, Skill and Livelihood” Conclave organized by ASSOCHAM in March 2020. He was also invited by technological majors Intel and IBM corporation for faculty development programs. He has also reviewed MHRD’s NPTEL courses. He has presented his work in leading conferences of IEEE and European Signal Processing Society in USA, Canada, Denmark, Singapore and India.
