Programme Introduction:

Value creation is the primary aim of any business entity. Creating value for customers helps sell products and services, while creating value for shareholders, in the form of increases in stock price, insures the future availability of investment capital to fund operations. From a financial perspective, value is said to be created when a business earns revenue (or a return on capital) that exceeds expenses (or the cost of capital). It is important for the prospective managers to use and make analysis of financial strategies for value creation.

Programme objectives:

The course aims to familiarize managers with:

  • Learn to take right financial decisions at the right time for value creation.
  • Undertake long-term and short-term financing strategy for creating value
  • Develop understanding of M&A and corporate restructuring for creation of business value.
  • Develop an enhanced understanding of risk management and using derivative tools to managing financial risk and other uncertainties.

Financial risk management and value creation

  • Understanding financial risk
  • Management of financial risk for value creation using derivatives and other tools

Programme Methodology:

The programme methodology will be through classroom discussion, case studies, and real world examples. The discussions will be supplemented by research articles on related issues.

Prof. Gaurav Gupta: PhD, IIT Kharagpur; CFA, ICFAI University, Tripura; M. Com & B. Com, MJP Rohilkhand University, Bareilly

Brief description of Experience: He has worked for approximately 2 years at VIT Business School, VIT University, Vellore as an Assistant Professor of Finance and Accounting. He has presented his research papers at many prestigious international and domestic finance conferences. He has published research papers in the area of corporate finance in the reputed national and international journals. He has organized management conclave for students on Investment Analysis.

Prof. Samta Jain: Ph.D., Department of Management Studies, IIT Delhi; M. Com, University of Delhi; B. Com (H), University of Delhi

Brief description of Experience: She has approximately two years of teaching and research experience. She is a dual post-graduate (M. Com and PGDM) in the area of finance. She has presented research papers in various conferences of national as well as international repute. She also has a few book chapters to her credit. She has also contributed as a quantitative research analyst in the public policy area of education
