Programme Introduction:

To ensure overall corporate success, it is essential for all finance as well as non-finance executives to understand accounting and finance. Acknowledging the existence and the importance of each of the diverse functional areas in a company, one cannot deny the close linkage of each of them with accounting and finance. Since all corporate decisions influence the finances of the company directly or indirectly, it is important for all executives to have at least the basic knowledge of finance for effective decision-making. This program also delves into the basics of managing personal finances aimed to provide practical insights into personal financial decision-making. Managing personal finances is necessary for every individual. Managing own finances efficiently allows an individual to achieve their long-term and short-term financial goals. The program will be a perfect blend of academic and industry practices. The program makes use of real-world examples and scenarios to explain the concepts of financial management and personal finance. It will be delivered by young and enthusiastic faculties, who are doctorate from the premiere institutions in the country

Programme objective:

  • To enable the participants to appraise corporate performance through analysis of financial statements.
  • To understand the behaviour of costs through analysis of cost and their applications for decision-making.
  • To comprehend the role of financial management in such areas as investment analysis and planning, cost control, and long term decision making.
  • To learn to manage personal finances and investments to achieve long-term and short-term financial goals

  • Introduction to Accounting and Finance: Basic Concepts, Goals and Need
  • Understanding Financial Statements: Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Cash Flow Statement
  • Analysis of Financial Statements with emphasis on Ratio analysis
  • Essentials of Cash Flow Analysis
  • Techniques of Capital Budgeting
  • Understanding Cost Management
  • Cost Analysis for Managerial Decision Making
  • Personal Finance and investment planning

Programme Methodology:

An appropriate mix of lectures, interactive discussions, mini-cases, and hands-on exercises.

Government enterprises, Corporate sector (both public and private), Start-ups, entrepreneurs. As managers, every decision they make has financial implications. The programme is designed to benefit managers from all industries across the board, viz. engineering, marketing, sales, human resources, healthcare etc.

Target Participants:

The programme is designed to meet the needs of middle and senior level managers from the different functional areas (marketing, operations, human resources, IT and other non-finance areas) of the management in the corporate sector, both public and private, as well as entrepreneurs. It also caters to the needs of administrative officers and other professionals working in the non-finance domain, who are desirous of understanding the basics of accounting and finance.

Programme Director:

Prof. Samta Jain (PhD, IITD; M. Com, Delhi University; B. Com(H), Delhi University) is an Assistant Professor in the area of Finance & Accounting at FORE School of Management, New Delhi. She holds PhD in finance from the Department of Management Studies, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India. Her thesis was nominated for Amit Garg Memorial Research Award 2019. During her PhD, she received Research Scholars' Travel Allowance for presenting a research paper at the International Conference from IIT Delhi. She is a dual post-graduate (M. Com and PGDM) in the area of finance. She qualified National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC in the first attempt. She was rewarded a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) from UGC. She has presented research papers in various conferences of national as well as international repute. She also has a few book chapters to her credit. She has also contributed as a quantitative research analyst in the public policy area of education.

Prof. Aditya Banerjee: PhD, IIM Ranchi (Accounting and Finance Area); MBA (Finance), Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur (IIEST); PGD in Securities Markets, Indian Institute of Capital Markets; B. Com, University of Calcutta.
Prof. Aditya Banerjee is currently an Assistant Professor in the Finance and Accounting Area at the FORE School of Management (FSM). Before joining FSM, He was an Assistant Professor in the Finance Area at the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (School of Business). He has been a Lecturer in the Finance area at the Royal University of Bhutan (GCBS). He has several publications in peer-reviewed journals indexed in Scopus and listed in ABDC and ABS. His research focuses on understanding how information from different sources affects stock price movement differently.
