Center for Psychometric Testing and Research

About the Center:

Competent people are assets to any successful organization and thus are of great value. Here, an important research tool i.e., psychometric testing plays a crucial role in enabling the identification and consequent development of the competencies. Psychometric testing has its relevance for HR professionals for various endeavors like selection, training, promotion, counselling and development of job-incumbents. Therefore, a research-based understanding of psychometric testing would be beneficial for handling people-related issues.

Understanding of psychometrics is concerned with the comprehension of theory and technique of psychological measurement, which aids measurement of knowledge, abilities, attitudes, and personality traits. The field is primarily concerned with the construction and validation of measurement instruments and their administration.

Center for Psychometric Testing & Research (CPTR) provides an intellectual space for psychometric research and testing at FORE School of Management. In collaboration with other reputed institutes renowned in the area, CPTR promotes education, research and training in psychometric research. With its in-house trained faculty, CPTR conducts workshops, management development programs, consultation, training, etc.

Thrust Areas:

  • CPTR is focused on a wide range of activities such as teaching, training and consulting in the areas of psychometric test development, assessment, and application.
  • CPTR conducts research for the development of psychometric tests, revision and validation of psychometric tests.

Research Themes and Goals:

  • The Center endeavors to establish a base for research and training on psychometric tests for application in the organisations.
  • The Center deals with development of psychometric tests related to intrinsic motivation of an individual, one of the important aspects of people management today.
  • The Center is a platform encouraging a strong link between the research and practice in the area of psychometrics through workshops and training programs for students, researchers, and corporate. It invites leading experts in the field to enable effective research in the field.

  • Intrinsic Motivational Potential Inventory (IMPI), a highly reliable and a valid psychometric measure designed to measure relevant behavioural traits that are considered central to the motivation of individuals at workplace. IMPI measures behavioural traits dealing with the underlying capacity of an individual that drive his or her behaviour or performance.
    IMPI provides assessment information instrumental in achieving individual and organisational interests. It provides the employers information about different intrinsic motivation potential levels of a job applicants or existing employees, which influence their performances at workplace. IMPI assessment information is further used for identifying various developmental initiatives.

  • CPTR completed its FORE Research Project (FRP) “Development of a Psychometric Test on Motivational Potential”.
    Two of the main outcomes of the project have got published in “International Journal of Indian Culture and Business Management” indexed in Emerging Sources Citation Index (Clarivate Analytics), indexed in Australian Business Deans Council Journal Rankings List 2013, Chartered Association of Business Schools (CABS) Academic Journal Guide, Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA). Also, listed in International Bibliography of the Social Sciences (Proquest).

  • A three-day Workshop on “Psychological Assessment Tools: Development & Applications”, on Sept 7, 2022 to Sept 9, 2022; 12 hours (online) for faculty, research scholars, and corporate.        It was proposed by: Dr. Prachi Bhatt & Dr. Sanghamitra Buddhapriya & Dr. Chitra Khari.
  • Successfully organized a three-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “HR Analytics: Concepts and Applications” June 20, 2022 to June 22, 2022; 12 hours (online). for faculty, research scholars, and students.

  • Workshop on “Psychological Assessment Tools: Development & Applications” was successfully organized on September 1-3, 2021. This a three-day online workshop got participation from members of faculty, research scholars, and corporate.
           It was organised by Dr. Prachi Bhatt, Dr. Sanghamitra Buddhapriya, & Dr Chitra Khari.
  • FDP on “HR Analytics: Concepts & Applications” was organized on June 21-23, 2021. It was very well received by a diverse group of participants. It was organised by Dr. Prachi Bhatt in collaboration with Dr. Sumeet Kaur.
  • Workshop on “Workplace Competencies & Assessments”, December 11, 2020 was organised by Dr. Prachi Bhatt. Ms. Rashmi Manasharmani, CHRO, Wave group was invited.
  • Session titled “An Interactive Session on Managing Stress and Anxiety” was organized on January 14, 2021 by Dr. Prachi Bhatt. Ms. Sakshi Mandhyan, Founder, Mandhyan Care (a Positive Mental Health initiative), Award-winning Happiness Coach, Psychologist was invited.
  • Workshop titled “Enhancing Interpersonal Relations” was organized on February 4, 2021. by Dr. Sanghamitra Buddhapriya
  • CPTR organized a two-day Workshop on Psychological Assessment Tools: Development, Application & Prospects; on September 23-24, 2019 for faculty, research scholars, and corporate. The workshop was designed with an aim to familiarize participants (faculty, research scholars, and corporate) with the measurement concepts & tools and improve selection and application of psychometric tests.
  • Panel discussion on “Psychological Assessment- An effective HR intervention” was organized by CPTR, on February 21, 2019 at FORE, wherein domain experts from the corporate were invited. Prof. Prachi Bhatt and Prof. Sanghamitra Buddhapriya organized the event.

    The objective of the panel discussion was to familiarize the participants about why and how psychological assessment is critical at workplace? With the business competitiveness on the rise, techniques been applied for psychological assessment, dilemma and challenge with respect to what psychological tools/ measurements to be used for integrated HR interventions in a workplace was discussed. The panelists discussed about the future traits/ skills/ behaviours (measured through psychological measures) that are looked for while hiring was discussed. The panel discussion was very well received by the students.

  • The CPTR organized a panel discussion on “Psychological Assessment at Workplace- Prospects and Challenges” on November 14, 2017, of 2 hrs. duration, 120 (1st and 2nd Year) students participated.

The panel discussion was well-received by the students. The discussion mainly revolved around today’s business contexts and the benefits of using psychological assessments of employees. The panelists highlighted and the ways in which psychological assessments add value to the organizations, the assessment tools organisations use, and their practical applications in various human resource/organizational functions. Additionally, discussion involved issues with respect to psychological measurements to be used for an integrated evaluation strategy at workplace.
