Rendezvous 2021-22

FORE Alumni network had the honor and pleasure of welcoming three of the esteemed Alumni, Dr. Monisha Borthakur, Mr. Manan Sheel Bhasin and Mr. Sumeet Tandon along with us we have one of the prestigious faculty members of FORE, Prof. Ayushi Sharma for Rendezvous 2021 Every year FAN organises alumni interaction event, Rendezvous to inspire the students in their MBA journeys by gaining valuable insights from FORE’s notable alumni. This year FAN was delighted to have honourable speakers who elucidated on How to make the most out of the hybrid work model with existing constraints.

Hailing from the batch of 2002 at FORE School of Management, our first guest for the night Dr. Monisha Borthakur has a rich experience in the corporate world. She has been the Assistant Vice President at IL&FS for 4 years. Subsequently, she has worked as the COO in CSC e-governance Services India Ltd. She has also done Executive Education Programme from Stanford University Graduate School of Business. Currently she is the Director of Sales and Client Services at Infosys Ltd.

Dr. Monisha mentioned, that now it is very essential for every company to have a strong IT backbone. Only the industry that has a strong IT backbone was able to successfully survive the hybrid model. She explained how by taking into account emotional and medical requirements of the employees, morale can be boosted in hybrid work model. She further mentioned that in the year 2022 with limitless technology in place we can grow with a lot of flexibility.

The second guest of the night was Mr. Manan Sheel Bhasin. Mr Bhasin is proud alumnus of FORE from the batch of 2003. He is currently serving as an Associate Vice President of Network18 Media & Investments Limited. His association with the brand is over 7 years now. Before this he was also associated with ABP group serving as the Head of Business for the leading Bangla News Channel - ABP Ananda. He was with ABP group for over 8 years where he had managed numerous key roles. Mr. Bhasin has been in media industry for over 18 years and has worked with brands like Aaj Tak, Headlines Today, Tez, Ten Sports, Star News. He is an expert in revenue and business generation and sustenance of continuous growth.

Mr. Bhasin has highlighted that now the internal and external stakeholders have become extremely dynamic and we have to find new ways to deal with them. He further explained that initially it was a state of shock and uncertainty. Although television view-ship increase exponentially, the advertisements’ business dynamics had changed significantly. A huge appreciation for journalism and editorial side of business was seen during this time.

The last and third guest was Mr. Sumeet Tandon. Mr. Tandon graduated from FORE School of Management in the year 2004. He is currently the Director - Research and Analysis at Ernst & Young. He has been associated with the company for 15 long years. Prior to this he had worked at McKinsey and Company as Business Analyst, and in Oracle as Sector Head. He has also completed several executive education programmes from prestigious institutes like IIM Bangalore and Indian School of Business. We are excited to hear the viewpoints from an individual with such an impressive career trajectory.

Mr. Tandon shared a brief presentation about what exactly entails in a hybrid work model highlighting the importance of finding a sweet spot between online and offline mode so that we can get the best of the two worlds. Every company presently is experimenting between the two models deciding which works the best for them. People are looking for meaning in their work, finding a purpose in their work. Increasingly all HR departments in companies are looking at a culture that can bring together different people.

Overall it was a really insightful and fruitful session for all the students as we got to know real industry experiences.
